Why do I collect what I have here? Many reasons... First, I buy on E-bay or through thrift stores, junk stores or garage sales. If I found it at a thrift store and the like, it's mine. These places are very cheap and no need to throw money away. As for E-bay, I have to be economical. For example, someone charges $10 for shipping and handling on a $2 high bid, I then try to buy something else from the same person to reduce the overall cost. There by I end up with other interesting items. Secondly, I love fixing pre-loveds! Ok, I admit clipping fuzzies off hair and adding make-up isn't that exciting but it makes such a difference, as does finding the RIGHT outfit (or original), plus all the accessories! It is definitely a hobby I enjoy. And that's why, for the time being, you will see no mint-in-box kids as I can't get any enjoyment out of them (I'd just take them out anyway). The same for the internationals (CPKs), you rarely see them in a state of disrepair. Thirdly, the clothing may or may not be original. I try to match the clothing to the kid, even handmade things. There are LOTS of handmade outfits or off-brands, but I only like the really creative, original ones. I like each kid to BE a personality...clothes make the person! Fourth, I enjoy certain types but I try to diversify all I can. I try to make sure I have no 2 alike, that SOMETHING, ANYTHING is different about each one (CPKs and MCs alike). Next, in regards to CPKs; I currently have no feelings for softies or pets or anything else that Xavier Roberts and OAA came out with. As to the softies, I may end up getting one some day, but I am not attached to the softies yet, perhaps when I visit Babyland for the first time. As to the pets, they currently have not grown on me, but maybe in the future. And last, why do I collect at all? I enjoy them, they make me happy. It is so comforting to be able to hug a kid when you are down. Yes, I have a fiance too...but dolls are different; they don't question you, don't complain if you hold too tight and love you back without any questions asked. If all humans could be like that!
