Sensei Kora Nowak (Chief Instructor 6th Dan)
Sensei Kora Nowak, 6th Dan, Chief Instructor, started training Karate in Germany in 1967. She gained her Shodan in 1971 and in the same year travelled to Tokyo where she trained with the Japan Karate Association under the late Sensei M Nakayama. Prior to leaving for Australia in 1972, she was graded Nidan by Sensei Nakayama. She received her Sandan and Yondan ranks from Sensei Hirokazu Kanazawa, and her Godan rank from Sensei Frank Nowak.
Sensei Kora Nowak has been involved in the Australian Karate Federation (formerly the Federation of Australian Karate-Do Organisations) since its inception and was one of the earliest Senior Referees and Instructors in the Organisation.
Amongst her main accomplishments are the development of several male and female kumite and kata champions at the state, national, and international level. Her favourite fighting combinations are gyaku zuki (reverse punch) - ushiro geri (back kick). Those small hands of hers are known to many big male students to have a lethal wallop. Kora's favourite kata is Chinte.
Sensei Kora received her 6th Dan at the National Seminar in September 2003.
