Traveling to Bratislava
Bratislava is the Capital of the Slovak Republic. It is situated only 60 km. east of Vienna. EU and USA visitors don't need a visa. Travelers from South America should ask their local consulate for details. For some nice pictures of Bratislava, follow this link.

By far the easiest way to travel to Bratislava is to fly directly to Vienna. From the airport of Vienna it is only 1 hour by bus to get to the center of Bratislava, including the border crossing. From Amsterdam there are approximately 6 flights to Vienna per day (KLM and Austrian airlines). |

It takes about 10 to 11 hours to travel by car from Rotterdam to Bratislava (1100 kms). The route generally takes you from Rotterdam to Köln, Nürnberg, Linz, Vienna, Bratislava. A nice route-planner is available on Shell Geostar's website. |

If you want to break your back, there is the bus service. Eurolines operates a 3-times-a-week bus service with Bratislava from Amsterdam. Takes about 18 hours. Janette did it once and doesn't recommend it. It is, however, the cheapest way to get there. |

You'll have to change trains once or twice, but it is very romantic...... Check out the schedule at the Dutch Railways' website. |
