Last four years ago, there are some active ex-students (electrical) from Yangon. They organized for paying respect ceremony which was held at RIT (Gyogone). Ceremony was successfully achieved but organizers are tied. They work very hard for this ceremony and they spent their own time and labour, their relative help, money ..etc. Collection of money from few hundr ex-students even from Minister of government.
Now, there is new organizer which was led by Daw Khin Ma Ma Soe (now head of electrical power department). Then last organizers also happily follow her. They are looking for leader.
Daw KMMS and her husband U Ngyan Win (Dy CE of Myanmar Telecom) are working very hard with ex-students such as Ko Win Khaing Moe, Ma Aye Aye Mu, Ma L-Khun Taung, Ko Thun Naing..etc. Daw KMMS felt some feeling when she saw aged retired teachers and she has little responsibility to organize such activity when some of retired teachers are alive. After discussion with ex-students and existing teachers from YTU (former RIT), they announced at Burmese newspaper for their plan. We willing to pay respect of retired and existing teachers at year 2000 millennium new year. Commenced date is 9th Jan 2000.
Yangon team started meeting from 9th Dec 99. Several donation collectors started at local (Myanmar) and oversea (Singapore, Thindland, USA..etc).
Collectors has difficulty to collect the deserved donation. Some might be little interest due to some confusion. Don't be so confuse. Paying respect to teachers do not have to think much. Careful explanation of this ceremony get more donation from ex-teachers eg. some ex-student entrepreneurs. Some might be problem to donate even few thousand kyats but does not matter the amount is big or small. "Willingly donation is the most appreciable job"
Yangon team targets to seven aged teachers and others. Oversea teachers might not require financial aids but they will be receiving souvenirs such gold plated memorials..etc.
Discussion and meeting at Yangon will get much more better decision. Their decision also depend on how much are we going to donate. One team in Singaopre already made more than oversea donation.
