Z CLUB OF HOUSTON AT
1999  HOUSTON  AUTORAMA

The Z Club of Houston had four entries and all four won a plaque in their respective classes, and best of all we won first place for car club display.  Congrats to all members who participated in this year's Autorama especially Mike Jones for his hard work on the display and getting everyone organized.  Greg Baker won first place in "foreign sports" with his '96 300ZX.  Jack Bich won second place in "custom homebuilt" with his Ferrari GTO conversion of a 260 Z.  Doug and T.P. Bakke also won second place in the "late contemporary custom" (I am not sure of the class names for Bakke and Bich) with their colorful 280ZXT.  My wife and I (Richard Shelton and Bobbie Newman) won fourth in the foreign sports class with our '72 240 Z.  Enjoy these pictures and click on any for a larger view.

THE STORY BEHIND THIS PICTURE
That's our glorious leader, Dave Morreale, behind the plaque.  I wish you could have seen his expression though.  You see Dave entered the award ceremonies late, after Bakke and Bich had received their awards and we decided to keep quiet and pretend they haven't announced those yet.  Dave was getting a little upset that the custom bikes and custom scooter awards were being announced before Bakke's and Bich's.   Then when all the awards were given out and people started leaving, this look of confusion came over Dave.  He started to mumble to himself.  Could it be that the Bakke and Bich had been shut out???!!!!  Mike Jones who accepted for Bich and Doug Bakke decided to come clean and show their plaques before Dave went into shock.
