Chapter Nine
*******
As Commander Geurig reviewed the information that he had
collected, he found a way to make sure that the two boys would
not interfere again. So he called a meeting to inform the others
what the plan was. As the last of the aliens entered the room,
Commander Geurig handed each one of them a data disk. While the
others were wondering what the disks were for, Geurig started
his brief.
Geurig informed his troops that they will stop all attacks
for three weeks. When the troops asked why, he informed them
that he was found a way to hold off the two boys that were
interfering with their plans. He informed the ones that he
gave a disk to, was a person they were to kidnap and hold
hostage.
But before they were to kidnap them, they must review the
disk on their person and then, during the three weeks, they must
observe the movement of their target, and when the time is right,
grab them. After the questions were asked and answered, they
went about doing what they were ordered to do.

It’s been almost a week after the concert incident. The
Senshi were wondering what the aliens were planning, since it’s
been quiet lately. There was a rumor going around that Ranma
was taking over the leadership of some of the Senshi, due to
it was him, Ryoga, and only two of the Senshi that saved the
people at the concert. The rest of the Senshi were feeling
bad due to the bad reports they were receiving, due to not
being able to fight. Other than the latest news, Ranma and
Ryoga informed them, with Ami’s help, that if they kept
training, their energy levels were rising as expected.
But the thing that was on the minds of Ranma and Ryoga
was what Luna had pointed out to them, that Hotaru is turning
into a chi vampire. Both of them talked about it and they
both agreed that they needed someone they knew to figure out
their problem. The only person they knew that could help
them was Cologne. So Ranma and Ryoga talked to Haruka and
Michiru to explain what they were planning and took Hotaru
to Nerima to see Cologne.
On the way there, the only thing that worried Ranma was
what Cologne was going to do when they explained Hotaru to her.
Ryoga said they would have to deal with it when the time came.
Once they got off the train, they made their way to the Neko-
haten. When they got there, they entered the place and Ranma
was quickly glomped by Shampoo.
“Aiyah, Ranma come take Shampoo on date, yes?” Shampoo
said as she glomped him.
“No Shampoo, we are here to talk to Cologne.” Ranma
replied as he pried Shampoo off of him.
“We?” Shampoo asked confused.
“Yes, we.” Ranma said and Shampoo looked behind Ranma
and saw Ryoga and the girl she saw with Ranma in the park
standing there.
“Aiyah, what pig-boy and violet-eyed girl doing here?”
Shampoo asked.
“We came to talk to Cologne.” Ryoga replied while Hotaru
looked at Shampoo in confusion.
“We handling lunch rush, if wait, Shampoo get great-
grandmother.” Shampoo replied.
“Thanks Shampoo.” Ranma said.
So the three of them sat at a table while Shampoo went
into the kitchen. Shampoo came out several minutes later and
served them some ramen. By the time that they finished eating
the ramen, the lunch rush had ended. So Cologne came out to
see what they wanted.
“I heard you wanted to speak with me Son-in-law.” Cologne
said.
“Yes, it has to deal with Hotaru here.” Ranma said.
“I see, and what is wrong with her that you seek my help.”
Cologne asked and then Ranma and Ryoga explained what they knew
and what Ranma was doing to fix the problem. I see, please come
with me.”
So all three of them followed Cologne up the stairs and
into one of the rooms. She had Ranma and Ryoga stand off to
the side while she went and checked Hotaru over. Hotaru was
a little nervous being examined by Cologne the way she was.
She felt like a piece of meat or something as Cologne circled
her and poked and prodded her. When she was done examining,
she hummed to herself, but Ranma and Ryoga heard her.
“What is it?” Ranma asked concerned.
“It’s something I’ve never seen in a long time.” Cologne
replied.
“What is it?” Ryoga asked.
“It’s a Soul Tap.” Cologne replied.
“A Soul Tap?” The three of them asked confused.
“What’s a Soul Tap and what is it doing to me?” Hotaru
asked frightened.
“It’s a technique used in order for someone to posse
someone.” Cologne replied.
“What.” Ranma and Ryoga were confused.
“Tell me childe, have you ever tired easily, unable to do
any strenuous activities?” Cologne asked.
“For most of my life.” Hotaru replied.
“Were you ever possed?” Cologne asked.
“Yes.” Hotaru replied timidly.
“What!” Ranma and Ryoga exclaimed when they heard that,
but was silenced by Cologne bopping them on the head with her
staff.
“Tell me about it, childe.” Cologne asked. Hotaru
explained her life from the lab explosion to present, leaving
out she’s Sailor Saturn, but saying the Senshi did help her
out. “You’ve had a rough life.”
“Can you help her?” Ranma asked.
“Yes, but in order for me to do it, I must ask you two
to leave the room. I don’t want to embarrass the child anymore
than I will be.” Cologne said.
“But …” Ranma tried to talk but was bopped on the head
by Colognes staff.
“If you want me to do this, wait down in the café.”
Cologne said. Ranma and Ryoga were reluctant to leave, but
they knew they had to. After they left the room, Cologne
waited to make sure they were gone before she talked to
Hotaru again. “Now childe, I need you to remove all your
clothes from the waist up.”
Twenty minutes later, Ranma and Ryoga were getting worried
of what was keeping Cologne so long. They were about to go and
check when they heard noise on the stairs. They turned and
looked and was suddenly in a hug. They looked down and saw
Hotaru hugging them.
“It worked, I feel better.” Hotaru exclaimed happily.
“That’s great.” Ryoga said.
“Alright, short-stuff.” Ranma said.
“Yes and now I won’t be tired anymore and …” Hotaru was
saying when all of a sudden her eyes rolled back and she
passed out, collapsing into Ryoga’s arms. Ryoga picked her
up and both of them suddenly became worried.
“It happened later than I thought.” Came Cologne’s
voice behind them.
“What do you mean?” Ranma asked.
“Her body is getting use to her normal Ki flows. Once
she’s use to it, she’ll be fine.” Cologne replied.
“Oh, that’s good.” Ranma said.
“Son-in-law, can I have a word with you in private?”
Cologne asked Ranma.
“Sure, but what about…” Ranma started saying.
“Don’t worry, Ryoga can watch over her.” Cologne said.
“Okay.” Ranma relented. So the both of them went into
the kitchen to talk. “What’cha want?”
“Who is that girl and why do you and Ryoga hold her special?”
Cologne asked.
“She is Ryoga’s and my Niece.”
“I see, I thought I sensed something familiar about her Ki
when I examined her.”
“Please don’t tell Nabiki or anyone else about her. I
don’t want her involved in Ryoga’s or my craziness over here.
She has enough problems in her life at the moment as it is.”
“Alright, but do you know anything about this hidden
power in her?”
“Um … yes.”
“It has something to do with her problems isn’t it?”
“Yes, she’s a member of the Senshi.”
“I see, I heard of them on the news lately, it doesn’t
sound good.”
“They are being hunted. Me and Ryoga are trying to give
them a fighting chance.”
“I hope you succeed, but let’s go check on our patient.”
The both of them left the kitchen and entered the dining
area, but to find that Ryoga and Hotaru were gone.
“Ah man, he wondered off, I got to go find him, thanks
for your help.” Ranma said as he ran out the Neko-haten.
“Good luck to you, Son-in-law. The power I sensed in her
was way beyond anything I’ve sensed before.”
* * * * *
Ranma was back at Michiru and Haruka’s house, pacing back
and forth wondering what he was going to do. He explained as
best as he could on what happened to Hotaru and Ryoga. They
had accepted what happened, so now they were waiting for any
message from Hotaru. It was eight hours after Ryoga and Hotaru
disappeared before they heard Hotaru enter the house.
“I’m back.” Hotaru announced as she entered. Everyone
rushed up to meet her, and saw that Hotaru looked a little
tired, wearing some of Ryoga’s clothes and his backpack, and
Ryoga in her arms in pig form.
“What happened to you?” Michiru asked.
“Well, I remember going to see the person Uncle Ranma
and Ryoga wanted me to see. After she poked my body several
times, it was like my body suddenly was filled with energy.
I went to tell Uncle Ranma and Ryoga and then I blacked out.”
Hotaru replied.
“Cologne said that was your body resetting itself.”
Ranma pointed out for Michiru and Haruka.
“Well, I came to in a river. It seems that the trail
Uncle Ryoga was on gave out on him and we fell into the river.
After I collected Uncle Ryoga and his stuff, I changed into a
spare set of his clothes and then wondered around until I
found out where we were and I’ve been walking here ever since,
and I’m glad I’m back, this bag weights a ton.” Hotaru said
as she dropped Ryoga’s bag with a heavy thud and Hotaru handed
Ryoga over to Ranma. “Here Uncle Ranma, take care of Uncle
Ryoga while I take a nice long bath.”
As Hotaru was going upstairs to soak, everyone looked
at her retreating form in confusion.

Two weeks later, the Senshi was still working out with
Ranma and Ryoga. It took a few days for everyone to get use
to the new Hotaru. The Senshi were very surprised to hear
what was causing Hotaru her problems, but was glad that she
was feeling better. The only thing they were wondering was
what the aliens were doing now.
Unknown to the Senshi, but the aliens were not being
inactive. The aliens that Commander Geurig assigned to watch
certain individuals were doing just that. When they had a
routine down for their targets, they decided it was time to
strike. The first one that was kidnapped was Ukyo. The alien
that was watching her kidnapped her when she went to bed. The
next one to go was Shampoo. The aliens had placed a call in
for a delivery and when Shampoo made the delivery, they grabbed
her. The next one to go was Kasumi. The aliens waited until
both Soun and Genma stepped out and they just walked in,
grabbed her, and left the Tendo Dojo.
The next one they grabbed was Akane. With Akane, they
had to be careful, so they took Commander Geurig’s idea and
disguised themselves as human and went to taunt Akane. They
got her mad enough and she went to chase after them. When
they were in a secluded area, they sprung the trap and
captured her.
When Nabiki’s group got a hold of the information of
the disappearances of the girls, her board members realized
that whoever kidnapped the girls, that Nabiki may be the next
one. So they hired two bodyguards to follow and protect Nabiki.
Nabiki didn’t want them, but with the disappearance of her two
sisters, she reluctantly accepted them.
When she was en route back home, the aliens decided to
attack her. Nabiki was surprised to see them that she stumbled
backwards and landed on her butt. Before the aliens were able
to grab her, her bodyguards interfered and forced the aliens
to flee. When the aliens fled, Nabiki’s bodyguards helped
her up and she immediately called her board members to tell
them to stop whatever they were doing and to find where those
aliens are coming from. When she hung up, she realized she
had to tell Ranma what was going on, so she and her bodyguards
headed for Juuban.
* * * * *
Ranma, Ryoga, and the Senshi were in a park practicing
martial arts. With Hotaru’s new energy, Ranma and Ryoga
started to increase her training in their family’s styles.
During the training of the Senshi, Ranma had sensed something
was wrong. During a break in the training, the Senshi noticed
some people approaching. When they pointed that out to Ranma,
Ranma and Ryoga realized immediately who was approaching them.
They stood their ground as she approached them.
“What do you want Nabiki?” Ranma asked.
“So this is where you’ve been keeping yourself lately.”
Nabiki said.
“If you’re trying to bring me back, you can forget it.”
Ranma replied.
“That is the farthest from my mind. Have you heard what’s
been going on lately back in Nerima?” Nabiki asked.
“No I haven’t, and what’s with the two guys behind you?”
“Protection.”
“If you think you need protection from me, you know you’ll
need more than those two.”
“It’s not for you, it’s for other people. Ranma, whoever
you are fighting this time, really doesn’t want you fighting.”
“What do you mean?”
“My sister’s been kidnapped.”
“Akane’s been kidnapped again?”
“I said my sisters. Kasumi’s been kidnapped along with
Akane, Shampoo, and Ukyo. I would’ve been on that list if it
weren’t for these two interfering. Whoever you are fighting
seems to know you enough to go after any female you seem close
to.” Nabiki said. Ranma, Ryoga, and the Senshi were surprised
by what Nabiki had said, and then a thought ran through Ranma’s
head.
“Any female I’m close to … Mom!” Ranma exclaimed and then
he turned and started running out of the park. Hotaru then
started after him yelling.
“Hey, wait for me!” Hotaru shouted out.
After Hotaru ran off, she left behind confused Senshi,
Ryoga and Nabiki. Ryoga wanted to go after Ranma and Hotaru,
but knew he couldn’t follow and Nabiki was wondering about the
girl, but Nabiki knew the one person to ask.
“Hey Ryoga, I got a question for you.” Nabiki asked.
* * * * *
Ranma was racing over the roof tops in order to get to
his mother’s place. He knew Hotaru was right behind him, but he
didn’t have time to tell her to stay put. So he kept on running
to his mother’s place in hope that he’ll be there to warn her,
or help her. As Ranma neared his mother’s place, he could sense
something was wrong. When he was in visual range of his mother’s
house he suddenly became angry when he saw three of the aliens
attacking his mother. He saw her trying to fend them off with
her sword, so he sped up and went to attack the aliens.
“Leave her alone!” Ranma shouted out as he landed behind
the aliens.
The aliens turned and saw Ranma rushing up to them. They
knew they were not going to complete their mission, so they
decided to split and find a better time to complete their mission.
After the aliens ran, Ranma and Hotaru checked on Nodoka.
“Mom, you okay?” Ranma asked.
“Yes, who and what were those things?” Nodoka asked.
“Beings trying to take over the world. I’ve been helping
in trying to stop them.” Ranma replied.
“What’s going on?” Nodoka asked.
So Ranma and Hotaru helped Nodoka inside and then proceeded
to tell her everything that has been going on.

To make sure Nodoka was safe from another alien attack, they
had her stay in Michiru and Haruka’s house until the threat of the
aliens were gone. Ranma and Ryoga continued training the Senshi
in the use of chi. Once Ranma and Ryoga figured out what emotion
the Senshi was using, they had them concentrate on that emotion.
The aliens in the mean time had found out that the people
they kidnapped had a large amount of soul energy in them. So
Commander Geurig had ordered the scientists to hook up a system
that would continually drain the energy from them. The scientists
said that the drain would keep them docile for as long as they
kept the drain going. Commander Geurig liked the idea and
started planning for the attacks to resume.
The next attack was set to take place in a mall. The aliens
attacked the mall and started draining the people. It was about
twenty-five minutes later that Ranma and Ryoga showed up to stop
them. They were about to attack when Commander Geurig told them
to hold on.
“If you attack us, you will never see your female friends
alive again.” Commander Geurig said.
Ranma and Ryoga knew they were in a tough situation, and
they knew they couldn’t do anything, that the aliens had the
upper hand at the moment. Both of them gritted their teeth as
they had to let the aliens leave untouched.
After the aliens left, Ranma and Ryoga made their way back
to meet up with the Senshi. They informed the Senshi what the
aliens had done. The Senshi realized that the aliens now have
a greater upper hand over them now. Some of the Senshi now started
questioning what they were going to do now.
“It’s just not fair. If we had our powers, we could be
fighting them.” Makoto said angrily. There were several murmurs
of agreement that was heard around. “If only I had my powers back.”
Makoto clenched her hands into fists and closed her eyes,
and started thinking of what she would do if only she could power
up. Suddenly to everyone’s eyes, a green flame suddenly erupted
around Makoto, engulfing her. Everyone was suddenly worried on
what was going on.
