The Braves figured runs for them could be at a permium without the services of 4 and 5 hitters, Nate Gray and Scott Hueckman. The Braves offense got jump started by some other contributors who stepped up big. The Braves singled four straight times to lead off the game and Jereme Harder added a 2-run single two batters latter. Farmington added two more in the second with a Todd Chingway 2-run double. Nick Heiting and Jereme Harder paced the Braves with three hits a piece, both players also drove in three runs.
But the story of the day was Phil Hochmuth, the right-hander allowed merely three singles and four walks in a complete game, shutout victory. Only Al Mecikalski, in the second inning, reached as far as second base.
