It was a grey, gloomy day at the Ballbark at Farmington. The early story was the starting pitching, the Braves' Scott Hueckman and the Rebels' Gary Schmidt. Both hurlers were on the top of their games, changing speeds and mixing location to the tune of a scoreless game through five quick innings of play.

The Braves struck first. Billy Owens drove in Matt Padron with an RBI double for the game's first run, in the bottom of the sixth. The Rebels answered with two of their own after singles by Derek Hyde, Schmidt, and Wegner. The Rebs took a 2-1 lead into the bottom of the final frame when some "crazy s#@t" started happening.

Nate Gray lead-off the ninth with a single, promptly stole second and third, but couldn't manage to score on Todd Chingway's infield single. James Melchior was immediatley entered to pinch run for Chingway, as the winning run. Eric Broom singled, scoring Gray. After a wild pitch, Brandon Ring was intentionally walked to load the bases with nobody out. Things looked promising with Hueckman coming to bat, but he hit into a fielder's choice, with Melchior being retired at the plate. Up came Matt Zickert, with one out and the winning run at third base. Zickert promptly fouled a pitch square into his face. You wouldn't believe it unless you saw it. With his face split wide-open, the game came to a halt as the paramedics were called upon. Some 30 minutes later, Zickert was escorted to the hospital, and Phil Hochmuth was entered into the game as pinch-hitter for Zickert. Schmidt's first offering hit Hochmuth in the middle of the back. Ball game.

The (1-3) Braves will try and carry the momentum into East Troy for tommorrow's contest.
