February
19, 2003- Each week, leading up to the 2003 BFL season, there will
be a look at each BFL franchise, with the player's own perspective
on the 2003 Season. Here is the 2nd BFL Profile.
"This
year is going to be The complete opposite of my season last year."
- Charlie
Last
season, Charlie had big hopes for the BFL. Coming in 2002 as an
expansion team, Charlie had big goals in mind for his team, the
Sand Storm. However, with a season of ups and downs, the Sand Storm
became the 3rd team to finish 0-3. However, Charlie stayed competitive
against the Black Knights and lost on the last play against the
Crusaders. "I was really disappointed at myself because I knew
that I could have won those games but during that time, I guess
that I was just lacking that competitive attitude in the BFL."
However,
after his disappointing loss against the Crusaders, Charlie guaranteed
the Sand Storm will be back next year, and will dominate. In fact,
the Charlie has been training during this off season. "I think
that I have definitely made a large improvement since last season.
Mainly because I have been training intensely since last October."
This season we should see a much improved Sand Storm team then we
did last season. "And up to now, I feel a lot stronger, faster
and a lot more confident in my abilities as a BFL football player."
As
for this season, Charlie plays three big games. First against the
Icebergs in Throwoff 2003, then against the Crusaders and then a
game that Charlie has circled on his calendar against the Bulldogs.
In their last meeting, the Bulldogs had 3 interceptions and had
a demanding 31 point lead. "The team I'm looking forward to
the most will be the Bulldogs because I remember how I got humiliated
by them in our last meeting. This time it won't be so easy for him."
But Charlie is not overlooking any of his opponents. "I think
that the teams I'm going to be playing against are just a couple
of brick walls that I have to break down in order to get to the
playoffs. So for me, I know that I'm going to blow right threw these
teams just like in my training. Might be a lot of work, but I'll
get it done."
