March
5, 2003- Each week, leading up to the 2003 BFL season, there will
be a look at each BFL franchise, with the player's own perspective
on the 2003 Season. Here is the 4th BFL Profile.
Two
seasons, 1 win. That describes the Bulldogs of the past two years.
While most people would look down upon that stat, Andrew uses it
has his motivation. He wants to keep the trend of winning an additional
game each season. "I'd like to have a 2-1 season this year...Two
wins is the key to me." And after talking with him, I think
that we will see a much better Bulldogs team than in the past.
First
off, Andrew stated his winning formula. Get off to a good start
and play good defense. "I think my defense has always been
really good. For points against, I've always had one of the lower
numbers. And I want to try and maintain that while I increase my
Points For. That's where I mess up [in the past]." Looking
at last years numbers, it sounds like a good idea. Last year he
gave up 222 but only scored 222. Any more points could help this
team become a major powerhouse.
As
for his schedule this year, the Bulldogs play three tough opponents.
First Andrew takes on the Black Knights, then the Sparrows, and
finally a rematch from Andrew's 23 point/3 Interception domination
against the Sand Storm. "The game that I am most looking forward
to will be against the Sparrows, because I am 0-2 against them.
And I am pretty familiar with that team. And I'll have to bring
my A game. I can't make any mistakes against Kenny." Andrew
knows that his shouldn't over look any of his games. He mentioned
that last years record for the Black Knights (1-1-1) "was a
fluke." In the Black Knight game, "I'll have to play really
tight defense. My main goal is to stop him." Andrew also knows
that Charlie will be on a much improved Sand Storm team. For the
game, "I don't want to overlook that game since I blew him
out last year. His key game this year is against me."
This
year, Andrew is playing with some new confidence. The Bulldogs will
be a real contender to be in the post season.
