March
10 , 2003- Each week, leading up to the 2003 BFL season, there will
be a look at each BFL franchise, with the player's own perspective
on the 2003 Season. Here is the 5th BFL Profile.
Going
into last season, it seemed that the Sparrows would were no longer
the dominate team that they were in the past. In his first two seasons,
Ken won two BFL Championships. But after winning back to back titles,
Ken would be in only 1 playoff appearance in his next two seasons.
In that Playoff Game, Ken fell behind to the Dragons by 16 and lost
it 47-42. "I knew after beating Rich three straight times,
that once he figured out how to beat me, I was doomed." Ken
lost to the Dragons 2 consecutive times including that playoff debacle.
"I
set a goal for myself to win another BFL championship and I wasn't
sure if I could do it." Ken started off 2002 strong but backed
into the playoffs with a 1-1-1 record. "I knew that all I needed
was a ticket to the playoffs and I could win it all, once more."
Ken did that dominating the Crusaders and overcoming the Dragons
in an emotional BFL Bowl V. "Me and Rich are good friends and
bring out the best in eachother, when we play. I never played that
hard in a game before, and I'm sure Rich could say the same. That
BFL Bowl was Rich's last game and we wanted to know that the oldest
rivalry in the game was played like it should be."
Coming
off of a Championship season, what should we look for from the Sparrows
in 2003? Ken stated that he just wants to have some fun this year.
"I am going to take it game by game. I am going to just have
some fun out there." Ken plays the Fear, the Bulldogs, and
the Crusaders. He is a combined 4-0 against the Bulldogs and Crusaders.
"I am looking forward to the game against the Fear the most.
I'd say Sean plays very similar football to me. He plays with intensity
and never quits." And with the Bulldogs and Crusaders Ken believes
one of those teams are overdue to beat him. "We'll see what
happens. Hopefully I can win BFL Bowl VI. But there are some teams
that want it more than me! But I assure everyone, come august, I
think I'll want to win it too."
