May
1 , 2003- On April 9, 2003, BFL Automatic Quarterback, Howie "Gogo"
suffered a migraine head ache and blurry vision in his right eye.
After a few weeks, Howie has been feeling much better than he did
in mid April but does not think he will be in playing condition
come May 17. As Howie stated, "I woke up to partial vision,
something I always had reoccurring throughout my life. It occurs
periodically. It's like a migraine headache. It usually goes away
after an hour or so but this particular vision has been going on
for several weeks now."
This
comes as a real shock to the BFL and its franchises. "Right
now I'm really frustrated because I know how hard the BFL has worked
to put this season together." Howie has thrown over 800 of
the 912 all time touchdown passes and has thrown every pass in every
game for the last 45 games. The last time Howie has not played an
entire game dates back to July 14, 1999 when the Dragons defeated
the Melody and Howie left the game with a similar eye problem. In
addition, he has quarterbacked in 50 straight games, and has quarterbacked
54 games total. "If I were to quarterback today, I'd say that
I am at 65 percent."
Howie
does plan to be the quarterback later in the season. However, he
is not likely to quarterback any of the interdivsional games. "Hopefully
I'll be their before June, but based on the schedule of my tests
and all, I'm shooting for somewhere between Throwoff and the All
Star Game." The BFL is still deciding on quarterback substitutes.
The Commissioner stated that, "We will find a fair, strong
armed quarterback or quarterbacks to fill in while Howie recovers.
Our main concern is for Howie to heal up and he will be back when
he feels he's 100 percent" Howie commented on a substitute
quarterback. "The ideal situation would be to have someone
quarterback who is not among the players, but is a neutral individual
like me." While Howie is sidelined with this injury, the BFL
will most likly have to start its 2003 season without its' best,
Howie Gogo.
