Sorry about the poor picture. I am building a better cap bank as these are my test cards all wired together with a copper buss. The next ones will be put on perf .board and have bolt terminals. I will provide better pictures of them. Here is a nice little formula for calculating thier hours of service life.(1x10^6)x ((transformer output voltage) /(AC rating of cap x # of caps in string)^15. Please use bleed resistors. Caps will hold a charge! Current levels are lethal!!!! |

After about 100 hours of abuse at 12000v and currents up to 180ma the caps started to go bang. I have replaced 3 caps and added 2 more caps to each string. All my new strings will have 13caps / string< unless you run your coil often and for long periods of time 11 caps will work well for 12KV input>. |
