Relena, The Misunderstood Princess

Relena Darlian/Peacecraft has been mistreated by many in the anime community, the most vocal I've heard being fans of the 1x2 coupling. Because she is the non-yaoi favorite for Heero's affections, it seems that her good points have been overlooked and her bad points embellished and/or misconstrued. This is why I've dedicated my second Page of Pics to this often misunderstood and occasionally vilified character.    It has been said that Relena is unattractive; this simply isn't true. Please bear in mind that this is my opinion. Even I can appreciate her beauty, which is why I've gathered some of what I hope are flattering photos of this princess, in the hopes of showing people just how pretty she really is.    Looks aren't Relena's only strong suit, either. Her powers of persuasion, eloquence, and the clarity with which she presents her beliefs and ideals rival that of Treize Kushrenada himself, not an easy feat. She is a very strong willed, optimistic, and altruistic person, putting others before herself time and again. Founder of the San Gabriel school for children of the nobility, leader of the pacifist Sank Kingdom, Vice Foreign Minister to the colonies, even the Queen of the World for a time, the list of Relena's accomplishments is quite lengthy, especially for one so young. This mere girl, not even out of her teens, has accomplished more in a few short years than many have done in entire lifetimes.    I do, however, admit to and am chagrined at Relena's fixation on Heero. At best viewed as a young girl's fancy and at worst a psychotic obsession, her habit of following him around borders on stalking; she seems to have no trouble locating and appearing wherever Heero ends up. Could this be a glimpse of a previously unknown dark side to the Princess of Sank, brought on perhaps by her traumatic childhood? A deeply rooted abandonment complex, developing out of the tragic disappearance of her earliest male role models, her father and brother, could explain her desire to seek out someone who makes her feel safe and her inevitable need to be rescued or protected every few episodes. Not to mention Endless Waltz..    There has been speculation as to the validity of Relena's claims that Heero provides her the support she needs to be the successful, influential world leader that she is, and I suppose there always will be. From what I've seen, this lonely girl with so much responsibility on her young shoulders -- more than most adults, in fact -- is just looking for a friend, someone who understands her unique position. Heero seems to fit the bill, and they do have a special connection of some kind. Of course, Relena is also looking for more than that, and keep in mind that I support a 1xR relationship. ^_~

Okay, this one disturbs me. I simply cannot envision Heero and Relena with a child. I'm sure they'd make fine parents, but...just the same, the thought is freaky. However; Relena looks good here, I think, and so this will remain until I find a better one.
