MSU fought for 'The Nana Trophy' on the last Friday of May at Ward Lane Tavern. The Nana Trophy is an ongoing battle between Palmerston North and Hamilton; a band from each city plays, and the stinkest band is given the Nana Trophy as a mark of disrepect. After a blistering live show, MSU was unlucky to lose and end up with the trophy. The band blames bassist Leroy Brown for not playing 'enough funky slap bass y'all'.

The night also featured ska outfit 'Four Man Bob' (Christchurch), and 'We Dunno ' (Auckland). Neither band was bad enough to go in the running for the trophy.
