Western Theatre Flags, CSA
May these flags forever wave in
our memory and may we always uphold the standards and honor of
those who fought under them. DEO VINDICE!
32nd Tennessee infantry Flag

Every battle flag meant something
to each man who served under it. For Marcie Tillet's great-great-great
grandfather, it meant that he was the flag bearer for his company
and he carried the flag with pride. In the words of his great-great-great
granddaughter, Marcie Tillet, "My 3rd great grandfather was
Tom East who was a flag bearer for this company. According to
my family, at the battle of Ft.Donelson, Tom East took this flag
and folded it and put it in his clothes to keep it from being
captured. He, himself was captured and somehow he handed it off
to another person to safely return it to the Confederacy while
in prison, I think, at Rock Island. I wanted you to know what
this one means to me. Just seeing this flag makes me extremely
proud of my grandfather and all those he fought with and for.
The flag is now housed at the TN State Museum in Nashville, TN."
We greatly appreciate this addition
to the Flags of the Confederacy Page.
