Diana's Story: Full persona name: Diana SCA location: Shire of the Northern Outpost, East Kingdom. Time period: 9th-11th c. Heritage: I consider my homeland to be Sweden, but I married an Icelander and I currently work as an embroiderer in Constantinople. Some places travelled: Sweden; parts of the Mediterranean; some parts of the Eastern Empire; and later in life, parts of Vinland. Brief description of current home: Though I occasionally travel with my husband, sometimes I stay in my private home in the city of Constantinople. Other important information about my persona: Though I obviously know Olaf and Harald, I frequently refer to things using slightly different terms because I have spent so much time with the Romans and Greek speaking peoples here in the Eastern Empire. For instance, I call the modern Byzantium "Romania" (land of the Romans) or the "Eastern Empire" to represent the fact that I no longer consider myself a foreigner to this land. Because of my heritage and my current residence, you will see elements of both Norse and Byzantine clothing in my garb. |
