The man pulled off the scarf covering her eyes and removed the gag from her
mouth. He looked at the woman before him and knew that she was well aware of
who he was and what he was going to do to her. Her amber gaze rested steadily
upon his face. The combination of shadows and light turned her eyes to the color
of a yellow topaz. The color of cat’s eyes. Eyes that could see in the
dark. Eyes that saw deep into the darkness of his soul.
She then spoke. "He will kill you." Pause. "You know that."

The “blue eyed” woman knew that “they” say that the eyes are the mirrors to the soul. That to accurately take the measure of a man, look to see the soul that is reflected back at you.
If one dares to look into the reflection of the man standing in the doorway,
one wonders which soul would be looking back. There are many choices a man makes
in life and one of them is the choice to take the life of another man. Which
soul takes on that responsibility? How does one gauge the measure of man that
has killed?
