zeJUNES's Recommended System Textbooks
In our opinion, system textbooks function only as complimentary study aids and nothing more. As such, we do not quite subscribe to the idea of '1 special book for every special system'. In fact, we rely heavily on those basic sciences textbooks most of the time. The following table illustrates our point. Chastise us if you wish to but that's our modus operandi. Anyhow, still hope this help a bit. | |
Course | System Specific Books We Used |
Endocrine | You won't need one, really. Any reasonable physiology and pathology textbooks will get you through. |
Reproductive | Obs and Gyn by 10 Great Teachers or somethin' like that, couldn't remember. |
Hematologic | Essential Hematology (Hoffbrand & Pettit) |
Gastrointestinal | Same thing. Any reasonable physiology and pathology textbooks will get you through. |
Cardiovascular | Pathophysiology of Heart Disease (Lilly) |
Respiratory | Till now, I can't find any good respiratory medicine textbooks. |
Renal | Again. You won't need one, really. Any reasonable physiology and pathology textbooks will get you through. |
Musculoskeletal | And again. Ditto. |
CNS | Basic Clinical Anatomy (Young & Young) |
