Hospitality

Chapter 2

Xellos had been traveling for about a minute and he still hadn’t said anything to Filia. Filia hadn’t said anything either, she was much too tired.

I wonder where we’re going, Filia though sleepily. I wonder if he has a house. What would it look like, Filia asked with a shudder. What kind of food would he give me? Am I still able to transform into my dragon form? Questions upon questions piled up in Filia’s tired head and exhausted from the days previous events she laid her head upon the Mazoku’s chest and fell asleep.

Startled by a warm pressure on his chest, Xellos looked down and almost gagged at what he saw. He toyed with the thought of awaking her but reasoned that it would be too funny to see her reaction when she woke up.

Xellos had decided to take her to where he stayed sometimes when he was watching Lina. It was a furnished cave not far from Seyruun. He had chosen that place because it had all the accommodations to cure Filia there. It actually wasn’t too hard to cure Filia’s condition. In fact, Gourry could probably do it. All it took was for Filia to sit inside a pentagram at all hours and drink a special concoction twice a day. The hard part was trying to make her comfortable. What did a dragon find comfortable, let alone Filia? And how was he going to incorporate that into sitting inside a pentagram all day? Ideas quickly formed in his head as his secret cave loomed in the distance.

Filia awoke in a strange place. Panic quickly overwhelmed her as she found she couldn’t move without great difficulty and she tried to recall the previous events. She couldn’t. She was in large, pink, fluffy bed in the midst of an empty, brightly lit, pink room.

What an odd place, Filia thought. It’s way too…pink. What kind of person would chose this décor? Filia mentally kicked herself as she the familiar smiling face with the purple hair. Go figure.

“Good morning, Filia! I trust you slept well?”

“ Where am I, garbage?”

Xellos ignored her insult. “Sore wa himitsu desu!”

“That isn’t funny! I deserve to know where I am!”

“Oh my, you’re so hard to entertain! We’re in a cave near Seyruun.”

“This is a cave?”

“Yes.”

Filia sighed. It had all come back to her now. She had been sipping her tea, minding her own business, when all the sudden Greater Beast came in and slapped some sort of curse on her. And worst of all, Xellos had to cure her! She had to sit here in Xellos cave in an immobile state for who knows how long! She couldn’t wait to be cured so she could give Xellos a good whack or two with her mace…. Her mace? That piece of garbage had taken it away! He had dumped it on the floor of the inn she was staying at! She would probally never see it again! Her lovely, sweet mace that an elder at the Shrine of the Fire Dragon King had given to her as a gift! She started to cry.

Oh great. She’s crying. Crying is a sign of discomfort…Zelas would be angry with me if she were to find out that I had failed… “What’s wrong, Filia-chan?”

“You stupid monster! I’ll never see my mace again! You dumped it on the floor! Someone will take it! Wahhh!” Filia continued to cry.

“Don’t worry, Filia! After you fell asleep, I turned around and got it for you.” Xellos pulled Filia’s mace from out behind his back.

“Oh! Thank you, Xellos! You’re so nice to-” Filia stopped short. “Ahem. I’m tired now. Go away.”

“Of course. Sweet dreams!” Xellos turned around, taking Filia’s mace with him, and left the room. “Oh, Filia-chan,” Xellos came back in, “Do you want the light on or off?”

“…On.”

Xellos left the room again and went upstairs two his…living room, you might call it, and though of what to do with the dragon sleeping in his basement. Well, he reasoned, when she wakes up, she’ll probably be hungry. What do dragons eat?

But the question was not ‘What do dragons eat’ it was more like ‘How would Xellos make the food’. Remember the soup he made when Lina and Company went to Armay Tower? Yup, Yup, Cooking was going to be a problem for our Xellos.

But then Xellos remembered. He had a servant in this house, didn’t he? He was so sure he did! It had been so long that he came here, that he had entirely forgotten. She could probably do the cooking!

Now, where is she? Xellos searched his small cave for her. Sure enough, Xellos found the green haired human girl on the top most floor. Her name was Sora.

“Xellos! Your finally back! Welcome.”

“Oh hello there, Sora!”

“”Man, I wish I knew that you were coming back ahead of time so I could have fixed something to eat…”

“Why don’t you do that now,” Xellos suggested. “And make it a dinner for three.”

“Three?”

“Yes. There’s a dragon sleeping downstairs that I have to take car of.”

“O-Ok…” Sora ran downstairs to the kitchen. Xellos’ cave had a very unusual layout. It had 4 levels to it, 1 above the entrance, 2 below it, with one or two room each. The top most floor had the two bedrooms, Sora’s room and Xellos’ room. The floor below that, the main level, held a kitchen and a dining room. The next was just a living room and the bottom floor was a Basement/ Guest Room witch was where Filia was staying.
