OCTOBER 2000
A
Lucky Friday 13th gig at Abelarde Sanction. Bone, led by one of ZA's oldest cronies, Rusty, opened for the band. Bone was extremely loud, but they were proficient musicians and not bad at all for only having practised together three times.  For a change, the full moon appeared to have a positive effect on both Iain and Alistair, even though the latter was still recovering from an upset stomach since Tuesday. The sound was particularly good both on and off stage and Zen Arcade cooked - playing one of their best sets to date. Halfway through the set, a trashed blonde named Michelle clambered onto the stage and accosted Iain briefly, before being chased off. Most entertaining. Speaking of blondes, the band outdid itself with tonsorial tit-ness. Latest hair update, Iain: Blue, James: Normal (but cropped), Alistair: Red, Andy: Platinum. The famous Hat again yielded a fine crop, but was left on stage, whence it was pilfered (If the thief is reading this, Fuck you very much).

On Sunday 15th, the by-now exhausted band convened at The Big Easy, Kensington to audition their wares to the tiny crowd of Sunday night regulars. The band played a  short set comprising
Ode, Step Back, Lopsided Affair, Crazy, Sister and Not About You. This highly  impressed the friendly  barflies and Terry the Owner, who booked the band for the following Tuesday. However, recording commitments meant that the gig would have to wait...
