Compelling, powerful vocals, tight driving rhythms and guitar excursions that vary from ethereal to bone-crushing - this is Zen Arcade, a band that's set to take South African audiences by storm. Playing all-original rock, the band remains accessible, while bypassing the old cliches, as can be judged from their demo CD. Following a successful mini-tour to Knysna, Oudtshoorn and Cape Town in December, the band completed recordings for a 7-track EP due for release in May 2001. Response to the band's live performances in Johannesburg and Pretoria, as well as at the Southern Cross and Rustler's Valley Festivals strongly suggests that this is the band to watch in 2001.
