Kobolds
Out of all of the
Fairy-Like beings, the most dangerous and most ugly are the Kobolds. Kobolds
are non-inherently evil spirits who live in underground mines and they enjoy
tricking, tormenting and harassing humans for no real reason at all. Though
rare, Kobolds have been known to help humans as well, but only if their mood is
right.
Throughout the 16th
and 17th century Kobolds were depicted on paintings as small Devils
who wore hats and pointy shoes like an Elf. These ugly beings had hairy tails
and bald feet for hands.
Some sources suggest that Kobolds are related to Brownies, (See Brownies on main Tiny Folk page), due to their appearance in some ways. Also like Brownies some sources claim that Kobolds are also household familiars who finish chores while family sleeps and occasionally plays a trick like hiding a broom from the housewife.
