URQUHART CASTLE:
By: Shyan Chapman 06-02-2004
Urquhart Castle is one of the
largest of Scottish Castles, with a 500 plus year history as a medieval
fortress and seeing many great battles and housing many families.
It is said that in about AD 580 St.
Columba himself converted it's then residence, (an elderly noble Pict named
Emchath and his family and servants) into Christians.
Urquhart Castle is now a Romantic ruin
and a huge tourist attraction. The Castle is surrounded on 3 sides by Loch
Ness. Most tourists who spend half their day at the Castle hope to catch a rare
glimpse of the supposed Monster.
