Now that we got THAT outa the way….. Let me tell you about my favorite band from Colorado, Leftover Salmon.  What the heck are they you ask!  The genre can only be classified as POLYETHNIC CAJUN SLAMGRASS. What is that you ask… well, break it down.  Come on, you’re smart… (you found your way HERE, didn’t you?!) so figure it out!  The band consists of Drew Emmitt on guitar, mandolin, electric SLIDE mandolin!, fiddle, and occasionally, the flute…. Not to mention vocals that melt any girl’s heart.  Drew is one of the   most amazing pickers of our time, and probably the most inspirational songwriter I can think of.  Next (and this is in NO particular order… these guys all rock!) is Vince Herman, the front man, show man, jokester, on rhythm and vocals and, as their Ask the Fish album lists, “gibberish.”  Jose Martinez (who has great taste in food, by the way - we're always hookin' him up with info on where to find good sushi or thai) is driving the rhythm on the drums, and Greg Garrison on bass is right there with him… droppin’ bombs and perfect notes all along the way, and backing up on vocals (with the occasional lead).  Billy McKay on keys and vocals… WOW pretty much sums him up in a nutshell!  Great songwriter, and bluesy voice and incredible keyboardist.  Noam Pikelny is the latest addition on banjo… 21 years old and tearin’ it up (imagine how sick that boy is gonna be when he’s 40?!).  Check out their website at LeftoverSalmon.com  - you can also download some shows there and check these boys out!  

Well, what brought you here in the first place was my list, so here it is… way back when I started seeing Salmon (High Sierra Music Festival 1997!  Also saw them at Rooney Festival, Deposit, NY, in the early 90s but I was kinda clueless musically back then!) things were on tape, so if it doesn’t say CDR next to it, that’s what it’s on, but I don’t have a way to record tapes anymore, so don’t ask me for it!  (Well you might be able to convince me to borrow a tape player and transfer it to cd for you but I’d have to have some great incentive for that!)
