The Land

... it's more than just a rock on which to stand and store our stuff.
Bound to the land We are all of us from the land, and we are bound to it in a way that cannot be severed until we all become computers.
Celebrating the land There is a natural rhythm to the seasons and life that the land teaches you. Autumn is the time of harvest and celebration of the bounty thereof. Without celebrations periodically to remind us why we do what we do, it is easy to lose track of a sense of purpose and of being alive.
Transforming the land Whenever man sets foot on a piece of ground which has so far escaped man's attention, the first thing he notices is that he begins to transform it simply by his presence. The weight of his footsteps, and his equipment and vehicles, begin to wear grooves of lifelessness. As man's machines have become ever more powerful, it has become easier and easier to make major transformations in huge pieces of land. Transforming it by hand is both a challenge and a means of learning. Slow transformation allows the land to talk to you and react and adjust to the changes you make as you make them.
