Chapter 2

The training area had changed recently, Squall
had been talking to Headmaster Cid again, and had
convinced him that the facility should be changed
every so often just to keep the students on their
toes.
This meant that every three months the layout
of the training ground was totally altered and a new
batch of monsters were released inside.
Irvine walked next to Seifer through the area
just outside the Meeting point, the small "secret"
room where the students met after lights out.
"This is gettin' borin'.... Where are all the
monsters ?" asked Seifer, sitting down on a nearby
rock and drawing patterns in the sand at his feet
with the tip of his gunblade. It had been thirty
minutes since the pair had entered the arena and as
yet they had not seen any other signs of life.
"I don't know...." said Irvine sounding
puzzled and looking even more so.
"Cheer up...." said his companion. "It could
be worse.... Selphie could 'ave dumped ya."
"Great thanks for reminding me about that."
Replied Irvine, he was just starting to forget about
his argument with Selphie.
The pair were on the look out for any monsters
that may attack but somehow a T-Rexaur always
seem to be roaming the secret rooms entrance.
No matter how many times the students thought
they'd killed it, it was always there.
Unfortunatly this is what now attacked Irvine
and Seifer....
Selphie sat outside on a bench humming to
herself and wondering how the pair were doing.
"Move, move, move !!" Yelled Seifer as the
T-Rexaur made another lunge to the right. Irvine
dropped to the floor, rolled and came up firing his
rifle, hitting the beast with his most powerful ammo.
Seifer made a dash at the creature with his
gunblade and struck it across the beast's head.
Unperterbed by this assault the T-Rexaur knocked
Seifer to the floor and made after another bite on
Irvine.
Irvine panicked and froze where he stood....
Selphie was begining to get anxious to see
how her lover was doing with his stress relief.
He had never usually spent more than an hour in
the facility, he had been gone for over two.
"Hrumph...." The noise was that of boredom.
"This is silly.... I think I've let him stew for long
enough now...." She said to herself as she set off
into the training centre to find Irvine and Seifer....
As the T-Rexaur bore down on Irvine ready to
strike the final blow, Seifer was just getting his
senses....
"Irvine....?" Moaned Seifer rolling onto his
back and sitting up. His head was pounding and blood
flowed from a cut just above his left eye, his ribs
ached and he couldn't move his right arm. Perhaps it
was broken.
"Irvine.... No....!!" Screamed Selphie as she
arrived at the scene.
"Selphie, try blindin' it...." Wheezed Seifer
from the rock he had proped himself upon.
"OK...." said Selphie.
"I'll try help...." said Seifer straining with
the effort of trying to summon a Guardian Force.
Selphie looked at Irvine who lay unconcious on
the ground at the feet of the T-Rexaur, and felt a
sudden rush of anger as she unleashed a Blind spell
on the creature.
The creature rawed in rage as it's vision was
taken from it, it stumbled backward and made a
lunge in Selphie's direction. She jumped and rolled
and came to her feet just as Seifer's Guardian
Force unleashed it's self.
The heavy iron gates opened to reveal
Cerberus the three headed guardian hound of Hell.
Just what Selphie needed. She looked back at Seifer
to show her gratitude but he had already passed out
with the effort of summoning the guardian. Selphie,
now able to cast three spells at once, tried to
decide what best to do. She knew she needed the
Life spell for Irvine, Curaga for Seifer and somthing
to kill the beast but she couldn't decide what was
most urgent.
She chose to cast Apocalypse three times and
hoped that this was enough to stop the T-Rexaur.
She didn't give the final spell time to finish
disapating before she ran to Irvine's side and cast
the Life spell on him. He didn't move. She began to
think the wounds he had sustained were fatal and
she began to cry. Her mind reeled, she felt numb all
over, was the man she loved gone ? She needed to
gt out of here, to the infirmary, to anywhere that
could help Irvine.
As she lifted Irvine she took the chance to
look at Seifer who had staggered to his feet and
was stumbling toward her.
"Seifer ? You OK ?" She asked, watching as
he moved slowly and stifly.
"Oh, man my head is killin' me." He moaned.
She then risked looking over to where the
T-Rexaur had fallen and instantly wished she hadn't,
the thing was back on it's feet again and didn't look
paticually happy. None of the three were in any
condition to fight back.
"Run !!" She shouted, lifting Irvine onto her
shoulders and running toward the secret rooms
entrance. Seifer was right behind as they burst
through the doorway and into the safty of the room,
but as Selphie tried to close the door, the creature
managed to land an attack upon her.
"Don't jus' stand there gawpin'.... help us"
Shouted Seifer at the students in the room. The last
thing Selphie saw before she passed out was Seifers
face screaming in silence at the stunned students
in the room.
