The Count Down
"But I need something more than just your name" said Jenny as a wave of nervousness flooded her.
"Well I gave you what you asked for, you asked for my name and I gave it to you" replied Lance as he held out his hand, a chair quickly slid across the floor into his hand; he then turned it around and sat down.
"Alright fine, tell me what you are?" demanded Jenny as her emotions flip-flopped from woe to anger.
"Well I hope you've got time, which I know you do but I also know you have little stamina. And I also know I do not like that tone" replied Lance as he snapped his fingers and a chair slid into Jenny's knees causing her to sit down. "Now that you're ready, I can begin. As I said I am Taeson, and that I'm here to destroy the earth and I said why, but now to something that you don't know. I'm a god. But not the religious type of god that you would worship but as a warrior god, sure I have all the powers that can be imagined, but it gets boring after a while and so repetitious. So I came here for a little excitement, but the year that I spent here I was adding up my pros and cons about Earth and the cons won so soon it'll be happening" finished Lance with a yawn.
"What'll happen, oh you mean..." drifted off Jenny as Lance nodded.
"But are you sure that you have to do it. I mean there are so many things that are worth living for, like you paintings, your phrase "Quality over Quantity", love and um, oh um" said Jenny as she forced her mind to think of more things.
"There are no things to live for, love that wont save you, all there is in this world now is hate and lost of it and the end is the only solution for it. And there’s nothing that you can say or do that will cause me to change my mind" answered Lance stoutly.
"But there has to be something."
"There's nothing, your waters poisoned, your earth rots, the soil is barren. There's nothing."
"But-"
"Nothing"
"Oh you can't be serious about all this,” said Jenny as she stood up and began to pace.
"You know, this is really starting to get annoying. I've told you, the world will end with or without your willingness. In fact, I think I'll start in a few hours. So now enjoy the count down. Now I really hope that you don't think I'm a jerk for this, I'm just doing everyone a favor whether they like it or not" replied Lance as he stood up and began to make his way toward the balcony. He placed his palms toward the doors and they swung, he made his way out and stepped up onto the ledge and turned around.
"Hey, what are you doing? You can't jump here,” cried Jenny as she bolted onto the balcony.
"Oh not here, I'm just looking for the highest point, and now that I've found it. I wish you the best of luck in the last few hours" responded Taeson as he voice changed to words that Jenny could not think of, it was neither evil nor good. He dipped his head and fell backward over the edge.
"Lance" screamed Jenny as she raced the few steps to the ledge and looked over, Taeson had caught himself and was walking on air. He increased his pace and was quickly gone, making his way to the highest point in the city.
