ANGLE.
A created feud or grudge. Planned by promoters and managers it usually involves a series of matches.

BABYFACE.
The fan favorite, good guy. "Face" is more widely used then "Babyface".

BLADING.
The practice of cutting oneself with a razor blade to produce blood and heighten the suspense of a match. A fabulous example of this is Billy Jack Haynes vs. Hercules from Wrestlemania III.

BLOW UP.
To become exhausted early in the match.
BOOKER.
The person who usually plans the match. Different from a promoter, the booker job can entail "angles", hiring talent, and planning good finishes to a match.

BUMP.
Taking a fall or hit. Usually the high point of a match. Anyone involved in the match can take a "bump" but most of the time it is the wrestler or referee. Mick Foley is perhaps the best example of a wrestler who takes big bumps.

CARD.
A single wrestling event and the matches that are a part of it.

CYCLE.
Has many different meanings but mostly refers to wrestlers who take steroids since they are prescribed in cycles.

DO THE JOB.
Losing to another wrestler.

DRAW.
A wrestlers gimmick and the people he can bring in because of it.

DUD.
Wrestling matches are often rated on a five star scale. A "dud" is the second worst rating a match can get and is often an insult to fans who paid to see it. Especially true if the particular "dud" was hyped beyond belief.

EXPOSING THE BUSINESS.
Releasing secrets about the business to the general public.

FACE.
Derived from the word "babyface". Although they are supposed to be the good guy they can often be disliked by the fans due to their devotion to the rules.

FEUD.
An "angle" constructed as a scheduled matches between wrestlers who have a problem with each other. Often good vs. evil but sometimes not.

FINISH.
The series of moves that bring a close to the match. Many wrestlers often use the same setup and "finish" for a majority of their matches.

GETTING HEAT.
The art of drawing boos. A good rulebreaker can "get over" with the fans by being evil enough to get "heat". Also applied to matches. If a match is being booed and cheered with good enthusiasm it is "getting heat".

GETTING OVER.
Connecting with and being accepted by the crowd. A wrestler with a good persona and good charisma can "get over" easily with the crowd.

GETTING POPS.
Getting cheers for a high point in the match. Different from heat which is sustained pops often occur off and on throughout the course of a good match. "Getting pops" frequently is the sign of a good match as it conveys the enjoyment of the fans. If an individual wrestler is popular enough he also can draw many pops.

GIMMICK.
A wrestling character. His persona and trademark. This can also apply to weapons and someone's individual behavior.

GREEN.
A rookie. "Green" wrestlers are often prone to mistakes until they get a little seasoned.

HARDWAY JUICE.
Actual drawing of blood without the use of a "blade".

HEAT.
The fans sustained reaction to a match.

HEEL.
The bad guy. Usually defiant of the rules they are often the thorn in the side of the face.

HOOK.
The use of illegal moves and holds to win a match. Mostly an old carnival practice.

HOOKER.
Someone who uses "hooks" to win a match.
