Highlights
2 Quick victory came in only nine seconds. Jones tried to start fast against the 450-pound Bundy, but ran into a bearhug, followed by a whip into the corner. Bundy then unleashed an avalanche and the pinfall.
4 Beefcake and Sammartino were both disqualified when Johnny V and Bruno Sammartino interfered in the match.
5 Valentine, managed by Jimmy Hart, battled the Dog, and until one stage, left the ring for the locker rooms. Tito Santana appeared convincing the referree to restart the match. The official then counted Valentine out, giving the victory to the Dog, but not the title.
6 Volkoff and the Sheik were managed by Classy Freddie Blassie. In the end, the Sheik, who was on the apron, took Blassie's cane and smashed it on Windham's head, while the referee was busy with Rotundo. Volkoff covered Windham for the pin.
7 In this bodyslam match, a pinfall or submission would not count and the only way to beat the opponent is by a bodyslam. Andre vowed to bodyslam the 380-pound Studd or retire from wrestling forever. If Andre does just that, Studd (managed by Bobby the Brain Heenan) would have to pay him $15,000.
8 Kai pounded Richter throughout the match. When the champion engineered a takedown by working off the ropes, Richter pulled a reverse and notched the win. Richter was managed by singer, Cyndi Lauper.
9 Much attention was drawn to this match, pitting WWF Champion Hulk Hogan and Mr T (star of 'The A Team' and Clubber Lang in 'Rocky III") against Rowdy Roddy Piper and Paul 'Mr Wonderful' Orndorff. The cornerman for the Hogan-T team was Superfly Jimmy Snuka, and for the Piper-Orndorff team, it was Cowboy Bob Orton. Then-New York Yankees manager, the late Billy Martin served as the guest ring announcer, boxing legend, Muhammad Ali as the special guest referee, and Pat Patterson as the second referee. In the match, Orton, with a plaster cast on his forearm, attempted to nail Hogan but instead Orndorff took the impact, allowing Hogan to score the pin.
