SHAMPOO words

These are literary words and the acronym "shampoo" is from my freshman year English class in High School.

Simile
A comparison of two unlike things using either the word "like" or the word "as"
e.g., "Her hair is brown like a pine cone" is a simile.
Hyperbole
A great exaggeration
e.g., someone carrying a heavy load might say "this thing weighs a ton!"
Alliteration
A few words in a row with the same beginning sound.
e.g., "Take time to talk to Tim" repeats the 'T' sound several times in a row.
Metaphor
Like a simile two things are compared, but unlike a simile the words "like" and "as" are absent; one thing is being called another thing.
e.g., "A pine cone is her hair color" another example might be "that car was a lemon" (this one might say if the car was defective).
Personification
Giving human characteristics to inanimate objects.
e.g., "The tree shook its arms and the lilies danced in the wind." (Trees do not have arms, nor can lilies dance).
Onomatopoeia
A word that describes and sounds like a sound.
e.g., "beep", other examples: "buzz", "zoom".
Oxymoron
Two contradicting words.
Some examples are: "Working vacation", "Jumbo shrimp" "Truthful politician" (alright, the last one is just a joke since it is not always the case since Abraham "honest Abe" Lincoln was a politician.)
