Review of Anne Frank's Anne Frank: Diary of a Young Girl

Anne Frank: Diary of a Young Girl is the true story of a teenage Jewish girl’s struggles during the Holocaust. Anne, her family, and another Jewish family hide from the Gestapo in the attic of her father’s business building. Anne faces many of the issues that a normal girl faces but they become more complicated due to the extreme circumstances and the close-quarter living. The diary ends as abruptly as it begins when Anne and her companions are captured by the Nazis.

Review

It is difficult to review such a unique book. It displays not only the human desire to pursue happiness, but it also displays the hardships of survival in an unfriendly world. Anne used her diary as a coping mechanism in order to deal with the unthinkable events taking place around her. This makes this a very powerful literary work. Although the diary is not written to please the audience, its brutal honesty and reality make the book unique.
