Review of William Shakespeare's Hamlet

One of William Shakespeare’s best known plays, Hamlet tells the story of a disgruntled prince in search of his father’s true killer. When the king of Denmark is secretly murdered, He returns as a ghost and relies on his beloved son Hamlet to bring his killer to justice. Hamlet’s biggest problem, however, is knowing who to trust. With so many possible loopholes and back stabbings, Hamlet is not sure if he can even trust his own mother. Although she was once a faithful wife to the recently deceased king, she is now wife to his brother, Claudius. Hamlet suspects foul play within the family, and realizes that the only one he can trust is the ghost of his dead father.

Review

Backstabbing, treachery, and deceit. Hamlet has all the qualities of a good Shakespearean play. The complex plot lines present in this story provide for a mind blowing literary experience. At any given point, the reader does not know what to believe until the bitter end. This play is a very quick read. With enough twists to keep someone with the shortest attention span in the world going, Hamlet is truly one of Shakespeare’s finest works.
