Review of Mark Twain's Puddin' Head Wilson

The source of many of Mark Twain’s best-known witticisms, Puddin’ Head Wilson tells the tale of a ne’er-do-well lawyer named Puddin’ Head Wilson and his investigation of what the modern day world would call a paternity case. The novel is as clever as Mark Twain’s trademark, and is at times uproariously funny.

Review

Puddin’ Head Wilson is not Mark Twain’s best known work, nor his funniest, nor his most socially criticizing, yet it is certainly unique in that it is the only detective story Twain ever wrote. It is enjoyable for its strange characters, and is also worth reading if for nothing other than to read the entries for Puddin’ Head Wilson’s Almanac.
