Rhoden is a slightly overweight, white skinned man. His body is almost entirely covered by his plain black robes. His hands too are covered by black gloves. Around his waist is a belt upon which hang five belt pouches. Strapped on his left shoulder, laying to his right on the same height as his waist, is a brown leather bag. His head, the only part of his body that is not entirely covered by black clothes, is big and round. His narrow brown eyes are slightly nearsighted. His hair is usually hidden by his black cap, but when it is not, it shows signs of Rhoden's premature baldness.
Rhoden was the first and only born of Thouren Viscois, a Zhentarim spy. His mother, Lucrecia Hilden Viscois, was a simple woman, who took care of her husband and her home. However, one year after Rhoden was born, Lucrecia fell sick and died. Since his father was out working most of the time, most of his childhood was spent with his mother's parents (Rhoden's father wan an orphan) in Zhent.
In his childhood, Rhoden showed to be a good student. His grandfather, a> retired scholar, acted as his teacher, teaching about various subjects. By the age of 14, as a birthday gift, Rhoden's father paid a wizard, Thodil Mallum, to teach Rhoden magic. Rhoden progressed rapidly as a wizard and by the age of 18, he was already able to cast cantrips.
Thouren was always very loyal to Zhentar. Although he was able to pass on this feeling of loyalty to his son, he couldn't convince Rhoden to join the Zhentarim. Rhoden believed that he was better suited to magical research than espionage.
When Rhoden was 19, his father suffered a "work accident", which caused
him to lose one foot. Because of this, the Zhentarim forced him to quit,
as they believed him unfit to perform his duties. Thouren was devastated
by this, and came up with the crazy idea of trying an espionage mission to
Evermeet in order to redeem himself in the eyes of the Zhentarim and prove
his worthiness. He promised Rhoden that he would come back in three months,
and since he never came back, Rhoden assumed that the elves either killed
him or did something worse.
When he was 20, as both a way to do his father's wishes and to get back at the elves, Rhoden joined the Zhentarim, and has spent the last four years, as an inquisitor within their ranks.
Rhoden was a peaceful, jolly man before his father disappeared.
Although he, even then, believed Zenthar to be a world savior who would
bring peace and prosperity to this world, he hated violence and would never
be in a war himself. He believed then that every creature was equal and all
would eventually work together under Zhentar's rule.
After his father's disappearance, Rhoden's mind began to change. He still believed that every race was equal, that all could only find peace in Zhentar's rule, but he began to see that death was the only way to make people see this. Rhoden, as a firm believer of reincarnation, believed that if the enemies of Zhentar were slain, they would have a chance to repent in their next life and wouldn't be able to pass along their false propaganda in this one.
Eventually, everyone that was killed to further this goal would be reborn from the Well of Souls, and be able to live in the peaceful utopia that he himself will help to build. Even so, he doesn't believe that suffering can help, and while he believes that some people need to die, he won't go around causing pain without good reason.
Rhoden doesn't worship any god. He acknowledges their power, but he despises them all. He sees all gods as parasites, stealing man's spiritual essences and using people as pawns. Rhoden however, still believes in afterlife. He believes that every soul goes through a cycle of death and rebirth, perfecting itself with every incarnation and learning important lessons from every death.
Rhoden also is a scholar, loving to study various subjects, with magic being his favorite. He loves to study, and tried to research a couple of minor magics. In his opinion, someday magic and the arts of Technomancy and artiface arts will blend together as one in the way they did with the Netheril, and man will be able to do anything.
Rhoden's attitude toward other people is usually a bit shy. He almost never left his home during his childhood, and has very few friends. The closest people to him are his grandparents and his familiar, a turtle he named Murab.
