Asa Corpse, ZHL Flames GM Passes Away at 27

London, ON-

Death is something that hits people hard, like a ton of bricks.  You never know where it is and where death will rear its ugly head next.  ZHL GMs and friends of Asa Corpse were saddened by the news they received Sunday night of their friend's passing.  Asa lost his long battle with cancer, but his courage and positive attitude in even his darkest hours was a great inspiration to everyone.  You never caught Asa feeling sorry for himself, you never would see him trying to get pity from anyone.  He once told me "pity is for sick people, not for me".

Blades GM Matt Jordan probably put it best when he said "In death are we all reminded that there is more to life than hockey. Asa was a friend, a mentor, and a hero to most or all of us."  Jordan took the news really hard seeing as he spent a day with Asa once.  "Many people knew Asa, whether it was as a friend, acquaintance, or someone you talked to once.  The impact he had on you though was one that will never be forgotten."  said ZHL Commissioner Andy Audet.

With Asa's passing the ZHL's coveted prize will now become the Asa Corpse Memorial Trophy, memorial being a word ZHL Commissioner Andy Audet hoped to never have to add to the title.  Even in the end, there was that little glimmer of hope, that glimmer still shines in our hearts and in our fond memories.  Asa is gone physically, but spiritually his suffering has ended.  Asa is now without pain or any boundaries his cancer burdened him with.  I for one, will have a moment of silence for the man who changed my entire view on many things, including life itself.  Asa, I love you and will miss you terribly.
