To really appreciate a poet and his work, one must learn to understand the thought process and go beyond the apparent meaning of the verse. It is like diving into the ocean and searching for pearls. I prefer to see the verses in urdu script so that we can really enjoy reading the poetry in its own language. Mirza Gahlib was a master artist who dressed his thoughts with beautiful words and like a true artist painted a beautiful picture with vibrant colors which you can only see in your mind's eye. His genius is evident in his poetic work. Besides Urdru, he has written in Farsee. In fact he has written more in Farsee than in Urdu. I wish I can learn that language to read his Farsee shaeree. We will be always greatful to him for making such a wonderf l contribution to the Urdu literature. I will attempt to visit this site often try to read the tashree and understand Ghalib's artful work. |
