| THIS IS MY STORY It all started when I was about 17-18 or so when my eyes would start to turn red and burn. I would go to visit my doctor and he would tell me that it was that reflection of the snow because I snowboard and that it will go away. Well it never went away and got worse and worse. After high school I went to see another doctor in my home town and he could not figure out what it was. So he sent me to see an ophthalmologist and he also could not figure it out. So he did some reserch through books and got on the phone with a cornea surgeon and they came to a conclusion. So the ophthalmologist sent me to see the cornea surgeon and he gave me the word, it was TERRIEN'S MARGINAL DEGENERATION. Now I was scared and didn't know what to think. About three or four years after the fact I was at work and my cornea perforated (my cornea split open) and it was instant blindness. I went to go and see the ophthalmologist and I went in for surgery right away to repair it. Now just this past Christmas (2000) I had a perforation in the left eye but it was smaller. In conclusion this whole web page is to find people out there who also have Terrien's and to talk back and forth and get more people aware of the disease. So if you are a known case please send me an e-mail and I will get back to you. UPDATE In the last couple of months (winter of 2005) This has been very active with the eyes. I have had 2 and 3 day long flare ups. I gues I just take it one day at a time. |

| I am pleased to say there have been no complications since I started this site. I have had a few flare ups were the eyes get red and burn but no surgerys or other complications I also had to increase my eye perscription.
