This is more than just a regular bowl game
I'm going to school in University of Texas. Ernie is going to school in Washington State University. College football is big in both schools. But in that regard, the two schools never met each other in the regular season. The only chance is when they are playing in the post-season bowl games. Each bowl eligible football team is picked by bowl game committee to play in one extra game in the football season. This game is called the bowl game. Number two of Washington State's Pacific 10 conference plays Number three of Texas's Big 12 every year. Ever since I understood this crappy bowl system, I was wondering Texas might play Washington State one day. With the unfortunate Kansas State win over Oklahoma in the Big 12 championship game, Texas is left out of the four biggest BCS bowl games. Washington State was knocked out of the possible Rose bowl (one of the four BCS bowls) when they lose to their archrival University of Washington. They are number two in Pac 10. With the combinations of other factors, these two schools ended up playing each other. The thing that I have been wondering for years came true. Sports has been the ultimate one thing that made my life entertaining, among others. Going to football and basketball games has been a regular event for me. I am a back-to-back Texas football season ticket holder. Possibly the first Macau student to have ever done so as a student in any school in the United States. I went to 90% of home basketball games last year, watching out final four team play has been a joyful event. T.J. Ford, now in the NBA with the Milwaukee Bucks, was our leader. He won the Naismith and Wooden college player of the year. However, football is still the number one sport in my school. I could hear people talk about football (especially our football team) anywhere arounf campus. And it was also football that brought me and Ernie back to conversation...
