VINCE YOUNG HAS
DONE IT AGAIN!
LED TEXAS LONGHORNS COME FROM BEHIND TO UPSET USC 41-38
This game sure lived up to the hype. I
complained about the huge gap between the regular season and the BCS
bowl games. I'm not saying the long gap is fine, but this game is
worth the wait. One day earlier I was watching Penn State and
Florida State playing in Orange Bowl. The game went into three
overtimes. After a bunch of missed field goals, Penn State's
freshman kicker was able to finally squeeze one barely through the
uprights to win the game. I thought it would be quite a job for the
Rose Bowl to top that. After all, Rose Bowl is the national
championship, and it should be the best of the bowl games.
It turned out this game is the best
of this years, and maybe in half a century (I'm not that old yet,
but sports websites ranked this game alongside with the _____). And
Vince Young's performance is the best Lee Corso and Kirk Herbstreit
(both of ESPN's College Gameday) have ever seen (Kirk even carried
it further to best performance in any sports). Legendary college
football commentator Keith Jackson who called the game for ABC said
after the game "I've never seen quite of what we've watch tonight."
No doubt, how can you top 267 yards passing and 200 yards rushing
plus 3 rushing touchdowns, including two in the last 4:03 and the
game winning touchdown with 19 seconds left in to seal it all. Vince
Young took over the game and with his determination nobody could
stand in his way.

"Who is the Heisman now?"
This game answered so many questions.
Vince Young proved that he is the best player on the field, better
than Matt Leinart, better than Reggie Bush. "Who is the Heisman
now?" Vince wasn't shy to show how he would answer the question by
holding the national championship crystal trophy ball to make the
Heisman pose. Maybe Reggie Bush should walk across the field and
hand his Heisman trophy back to Vince, who truly deserves it. We
also got an answer to another question: Can Mack Brown win big
games? I would answer that Mack Brown couldn't win big games with
Chris Simms. Now he can win with Vince Young. The monkey on Mack
Brown's back dropped dead once again. Mack Brown and the Horns won
last year's Rose Bowl against Michigan, at Ohio State, Big XII
championship against Colorado, and now the national championship
game at Rose Bowl again one of the best team in history in USC --
all in come-from-behind fashion. Is there any question about Mack
Brown's ability?
I wasn't using the word "disrespect".
Selvin Young wasn't holding his emotions back when interviewed after
the game. "All week long they have been straight up disrespecting us
on national television, saying we weren't gonna show up and it's
gonna be a blowout. I think the second half really gave up the
momentum." True. People were disrespecting the Longhorns football
team. But rather than the USC football players who were
disrespecting them (I haven't heard any disrespectful words from the
USC team. Maybe there was secret exchange between players from both
teams), the press and media were doing the work. Most media were
picking USC to win this game, some by landslide. ESPN did a series
on Sportscenter comparing this USC team with the ten best college
football teams in history. How disrespectful! They should have at
least waited for the Rose Bowl to finish. People in Southern
California were definitely showing our players no love. I think this
is the real reason thatal fueled Selvin Young's comment. I'm sure
everywhere the team went, people there would tell them they had no
chance and how USC will kick their ass. This is why it feels soooo
good to win as an underdog. TAKE THAT USC! Now go sleep with your
Heismans. We've got the crystal ball!
i've never thought who would win...
