ZIMNICEA is a small town in the most southward point of  Romania. It is a frontier town, near Bulgaria, with the river Danube between us. Being Danube harbour, Zimnicea Town is connected with eight Danubian countries From Eastern and Central Europe and it has exit to The Black Sea. Since The Reihn – Main – Danube Channel was finished in 1993 and being at 60 Km far from  the road and the railway bridge Giurgiu – Russe ( the only permanent crossing the Danube to Bulgaria ) and 120 Km. far from Bucharest, also provide connections with the Eastern European countries and the Balkan and Middle East countries. Zimnicea Town is situated in a rich agrarian zone, producing a lot of grains, vegetables and grapes. It has an area of 10 375 ha arable land.

Also, Zimnicea is part of Bulgarian and Romanian "EUROREGION DANUBE-SOUTH" for transborder cooperation with municipalities of Svishtov, Belene and Nicopol, looking for solutions of common transborder problems and bringing closer the population of the both sides of the border.
