The rhizomes of Curcuma domestica is a popular spice known as turmeric. It is an important ingredient in curry. Turmeric has a wide range of uses since ancient time, ranging from food flavouring, traditional medicine, in cultural rites and as a dye.
The inflorescence of Curcuma domestica has yellow and green bracts with small yellow flowers. However, some species bear attractive pink inflorescence and has the potentials to be used as ornamental plants.
