Interesting to say the least! I don't know very many of your names, but am very familiar with BMC, along with all the others. I grew up mostly in Indiana. I also lived in Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan and Florida. I started going to IH Convention when it w s held at GBS and on to Huntington, WVa and then Dayton. I have not attended in several years. My dad was a Wesleyan pastor so I grew up in the parsonage....I attended Hobe Sound and God's Bible School. It took me a long time to see that so many rules a d regulations are just man-made. I have enjoyed reading this website and am certain I will visit again soon. Would love to hear from anyone who knows me.

Lost a beloved pastor and half our congregation to BMC in 1955. Crowley (La.) First Nazarene, from my perspective, has never recovered from the loss (I visited there last week). Interesting to note that succeeding generations of those families are migrati g back to Nazarene churches (tho not Crowley First).

I have been amazed at some of the things that I have come accross on this web site. Some of the things I agree with, but quite honestly some of them are disappionting. I too agree with the idea that the church should not legislate everything that a pers n does, and I also agree that the BMC manual is not going to get anyone to heaven, it's what is in the heart that counts. But I will have to say that I am disappointed to see that there are some who have pretty much thrown everything overboard and feel t at it doesn't really matter what you do. I too struggled with things that some preacher tried to cram down my throat as a teenager, but I finally had to get to the place where I quit carrying a chip on my shoulder towards the BMC and just live my convict ons and if they think that I'm not a real christian, Oh well. I'm not trying to put anyne down who has left the BMC, because if there was a choice of another church in this area I would probably attend elsewhere, too. But since others are so honest in t lling how they feel about the BMC than I guess I should be able to be just as honest about how I feel, right? I just think that we should all be careful about our attitudes towards one another. The Ex-BMCers don't seem to like it if the BMC judges them bout their beliefs, but it appears that the Ex-BMCers have no problem judging the BMC for being so strict. Let's be consistent here. If we don't liked to be judged, don't judge others.
I hope I haven't made enemies already, but if I have, sorry, I had to be honest. I see good and bad in both the Ex-BMC and the BMC and I have friends in both groups and I intend to keep it that way. If anyone of my old friends would like to E-mail me I' love to hear from them and I would like to make some new friends thru' this group.

I was thrilled to find this site. It was like going way back in time. I first met my "husband" at the old BMC camp at Entriken,PA when we were only 7 or 8 years old.And we are about the same age as Steve Zink. We met after many years, and have been marrie 20 years. I remember playing Barbie dolls with Lois Zink and being chased over the campground by the Keller boys and Sammy Zink. Yes, I know the adults were struggling with the church issues during this time, but I remember the good times. The boys took turns riding in the water truck my dad, Robert Querry, used to keep down the dust on the road o the camp. My parents were not attending the Newburg church at that time, but we had made friends with many of the BMC people. I would like to hear from some of the friends who remember the good times!!!

My, what familiar names! I once belonged to the BMC in Riverton, Wyo with Larry Pettit as pastor. I belonged to Winchester, IN church with Howard Baker as pastor and in Asheboro, NC with LL Wheeler as pastor. Mike Morgan was and still is a good friend rom Connersville, IN. I am Jason Miller, my parents are Rodney and Roxanne Miller (they are in the Fellowship of Bible Churches). We were in the IA/IL District, in the Iowa City church. While my parents were saved *into* the BMC (as opposed to deep family ties!), I know that y experiences in the BMC have been just as formative as those of others, for better or for worse. For those that remember me and are interested, I went to HSBC and the University of Connecticut, Wesley Seminary and am now at Baylor University. I have go e a different direction than many on this page -- I am a member of the Episcopal Church, with great interest in becoming a priest. Anyway, a fascinating page -- I will need to check back.

I am just amazed at what I have read here. I do not go the the BMC church any more myself but I do not believe this or any thing else gives me the right to judge the church. What I am getting from your letters is that most of you are better than anyone n the BMC church because you can get on this web page and trash them. The Bible does say that in the last days the church will be persecuted. You have just about convienced me that (although I don't agree with everything) they must be doing something ri ht otherwise they wouldn't be getting this reaction. Hi everyone!
It is nice to read notes from some old friends.
My maden name is Campbell, My father was a preacher in the BMC for many years. I went to BMI from 1976-1980. I will always be grateful for the things that I learned and the wonderful people I knew.

I am in the middle of a divorce,This is not somthing I wanted but I can not change what my husband Dave wants.I prayed for 2 years that God would save my marriage, But in reality Dave back slid and went deep into sin and does not want to turn back to God
But I can say even through this dark time in my life Jesus is so near. I would not give up what God has done for me for anything in the world.
I am so blest! I have 3 wonderful sons.
Daren is 17, a senior in H.S. plays the violin and plans to get his Dr. in music and psychology.
Chris is 15, and everyones sweetheart. He plays basball and is very good. He also plays the Sax., is in marhing band and jazz band.
Then there is 10 year old Andrew. He is a mess! He is playing football, and told me after the 2nd practice - Mom I am just to fragile I might get hurt.... Ha! He is still playing and has not gotten hurt yet. He is really a cutie pie.
Please pray for my boys. They are so upset with there Father. I need prayer too. I am so thankful for friends that can pray. I have a wonderful support system. My parents Dave and June Campbell are the best. They have been there when I was broken and cryi g. I also have a wonderful Church family. I go to the Grand Prairie, TX Church of the Nazarene. My Pastor Bill Rohlmeier and his wife Murlene are real examples of true Holiness.
He went to Bethany to Bible Collage With Tony Ross and Rodney Pitts and many others.

Bruce and I live in the beautiful little state of Delaware with our two children, C ad, 18 and Leah, 16 .... or rather just Leah. Chad is in his freshman year at Bethany Bible College in Sussex, New Brunswick, Canada studying for the ministry. Leah is a junior in high school and we are all serving Jesus! When we moved here 11 years ag we looked for a church like 'ours' and couldn't find one. We found the Wesleyan church along with God's love and mercy. We have raised our children without the guidelines of the BMC but with God's Word as their guide. There really are people out here w th God in their heart that don't live by the BMC manual!! I'm not an ex-BMC but my dad is a holiness pastor who previously made the rounds of the holiness Bible college circuit . He worked for the U.B.C. and the G.B.S. and was a regular big-shot in the holiness movement for a while there. I don't know many people who've posted here, but maybe I will know more as time goes on. I grew up in the Detroit, MI BMC, and was a district licensed preacher under Donnie Plemons when I decided as a delagate to the 1987 conference that I was leaving. I then found out that a number of people were leaving and waited and left with them in '88. Went through a divorce in '89 and shortly thereafter became involved in a non-denominational charismatic church, which I have been a part of ever since even thoug I do not speak in tongues, nor believe the scriptures instruct me to seek to do so. My church doesn't have a problem with my not agreeing with everything they teach and have used me quite a bit. So I have found a home (church) where there is real life nd adherence to the basics of Christianity. I'm in love with Jesus and am trying to touch lives for Him.

I particularly appreciate your message/ discussion board. My family and I Joined the BMC with an independent Holiness mission which God had used us to start and we left after the backlash from the split finally reached New England. We are now with anothe Independent Holiness group in Maine.

We were never deeply involved in the events which took place but went through a lot of agony because of it none the less. I'm glad that there is still some contact amoung the survivors. Wanting to be part of something like the BMC indicates a heart and mindset which is unusual in todays world and I believe God isn't done with all of us yet.
