Topic: Glory Scriptures: II Corinthians 3:12-18 Sunday, January 2, 2005 Message Delivery: Rev. Caleb Williams Notes provided by: Sis. Jackie Knox
Glory shows up many times in this book speaking of revelation or revealing something. Glory here is not a place or path we travel in death but a road every Christian is designed to live on. To stay on it, you need knowledge of God. Israel lacked that revelation because they were consumed by law instead of what law was pointing them to. They were trying to live a relationship with God based upon experience instead of knowledge. Experiences are designed to point you toward Christ. As saved Christians, we should always be growing and developing, not stagnant.
The Road to Glory requires the following:
1. A different kind of lifestyle (Romans 12:1-2)
The word of God should be the standard by which we live.
2. Going beyond rituals to revelation
Israel had been following Moses and the law more instead of the Lord. Faith will allow you to believe things you do not understand and allow God to give you a miracle.
3. Worship, fasting, praying, meditation, and study/focus on God's word
People that say the Bible just doesn't make much sense are just reading it and not studying it.
4. Proper studying of the word: properly apply yourself (II Timothy 3:15-17; John 8:31-32; Deuteronomy 6:6-12, 11:18-21; Joshua 1:8)
