The Sunrise Of Love

At a hundred miles per hour
speeding down a road once traveled.
Hanging on tight to the steering wheel
as if it’s really going to help.
It worked before, now I’m having trouble.
Keeping this car on the road;
my destination might as well be
as far as the Cepheid stars
pulsating in the
Centaur galaxy

There is meaning here
as I look across her fields
burning in flames of summer.
Consuming all peripheral vision
with a heat that reaches
all boundaries of land and sea.

Something never experienced
appears unreal in the tunnel ahead;
seeing her on the other side.
I’ve felt my heart race before
but not ever this fast.
I don’t think I’m moving quickly enough,
such energy, this intensity, this….
