Painted Man
"Painted Man"
You're a baby boy
they shake at you a toy.
Your giggle and your smile
causes them to smile.

Soon you know
that there are those
who want what you have.
You figure out, I must survive.
You figure out how you will arrive.

Your father confuses you.
You form a best friend.
He does something
and it comes to an end
I know I must be trying
to do it on my own.
My body has grown.

I long for that which is innocent.
The freedom has been spent.
Yet it continues to pull
and your mom pushes you

Is not long when you feel
the intensity that she brings.
Driving in my car, what a deal!
Is this really what is real?
Down the highway your lips sing,
for all that she may bring
You know you'll love,
like none has ever before.
Running with her in the grove.
Of this you cry for more!

I remember I'm on my own.
Now my mind has grown.
But, what of these feelings,
Ah…I must be reeling
Yet, they say you're different.
They're wishing for the bereavement,
that you went through,
only a few years ago.

Some of them say,
"She is who she is"
What is her day?
I say you won't be able to.

As I go with it.
knowing that I just need to sit,
with her and love her.
Not like we were.
More like what is unknown.
With that much energy,
like an eagle has flown,
Soaring, flying, free.
Freedom is with her
….Freedom is with her
