The other day I was sharing the previous poem with a very good internet friend of mine.  She asked me if I minded her 'reciting' a poem that came to her as an inspiration while I was sharing mine?  She said, something to the effect, that if I were you, this is what I'd be writing. Then she said, I don't know if this fits but here goes.

After reading it, I was so impressed and honored that she had felt, let alone shared, such an inspiration  That, regardless, if it fits or not I would like to put this on my web page.  Thank you "turtle"(her nickname) for you being you, and please don't ever stop. : )

             I Said
                    (a friends version)

Once i said yes
And she gave me 3 gifts
precious beyond life
then twenty two years of heartache.

Then i said no
i won't take this anymore
and packed up my belongings
and my heart.

I said what now?
and you came along
and fell into step with my heartbeat

I said hello
and your eyes smiled at me
I felt a friendship blossom
and a new seed planted.

I said yes
once again
and so did you
til you seemed to grow weary of "us"

I said, I hurt
so you kissed my heart
and eased the ache inside.
And left.

I said, it's worse.
but no one was there
the silence did not even offer an echo.

I said, no more
and the tears would not cease
til you returned, and you said, I found me.

I said, where were you?
and you said, lost.
but i have returned,
and found me here at home
with you.

So ever so slowly
once again, i said yes
and the heaven that comes
from opening two hearts
is with us still.
