The Wave

Stepping onto the sand
Into the fog of our future
Hearing the sound of the waves
Please don't misunderstand

Walking along, beachcombing
For anything that's new
A shell, a sand dollar
We keep on roaming

Finding some driftwood
A walking stick
In support of our relationship
In time it withstood

The bumps in the sand
Smooth out in the end
Sometimes the waves are heavy
At others we are hand in hand

The times, the recent ones
I felt the tide pulling
faster and faster
I love the star fishes

Look at the sea urchins,
And these clear pools of water
that were left behind
Now the tide is up to my shin

Every moment is precious
When spent with you
I want it to last longer
Than these brief moments.

I hold on to the rocks
No tide is going to take me
Away from you
Together we will walk
