are rising for other reasons. Pepe, the local boy who's participating in the Vuelta
a Espana (the Spanish equivalent of le Tour de France) will pass through his hometown.
Will he be in time to toast his brother's wedding to homegrown beauty Carmen?
More importantly, will he win? The animation director for Miyazaki Hiyao's Princess
Mononoke and Spirited Away shows his racing colours in Japan's first animation
invited to Directors' Fortnight. With photographic authenticity, he transports
us to Southern Spain's parched, windswept plains, replete with folksongs, Flamenco
riffs, the local delicacy of pickled aubergines - and a slam-bang finale..."
