2001.02.28    Poland Polish Mansion Houses Series

Poland Post released on Feb. 28 two new values in its Mansion Houses definitive series, the 5th issue since 1997. The series renders mansion houses near Warsaw, whose interiors are transformed in museums. The new ones are valued at PLN 1.90 and PLN 3.00 respectively.

The value PLN 1.90 - Petrykozy near Mszczonow. The mansion house was erected at the beginning of the 19th century. It was renovated by actor Wojciech Siemion in 1979. It houses collections of the folk art and masterpieces of contemporary artists.

The value PLN 3.00 - Janowiec near Pulawy. It is a late Baroque wooden mansion house reconstructed at the beginning of the 20th century according to a design of architect Kazimierz Skorewicz. It was moved from Moniak near Urzedow in the years 1977-85. At present it is the seat of the Museum-Castle in Janowiec on the Vistula River. Several wooden construction monuments from the 19th century were placed there as well.
